I've got 4 core armoured cable for a garden shed run but the cables outside diameter is 12.3 mm and the only junction boxes and joints are 10mm and I think 15mm. What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks

Junction boxes and other connectors are sized on the cross sectional area of the individual conductors.

The diameter of the outer covering of a cable is unrelated.

The size of the glands to weather seal the cable needs to match the outer diameter of the cable surely.
My query is since the cable is 12.4mm diameter and no junction/joint with that size other than 10mm / 15mm what is wrong

You don't get SWA glands at any of the sizes you mentioned. Are you sure you know what you are doing?

What size is the cable it will/should say on the cable somewhere.... it can be hard to see.

For example

3 x 2.5 or

3 x 4 or

4 x 10

Etc

This gland, as a random example, takes cables with diameters 7.5 - 14 mm:

What kind of “junction / joint” exactly are you looking at?

(Edit: sorry, that’s not an SWA gland.)

Junction boxes for SWA glands tend to have 20mm or 25mm diameter holes, but I think you don't know really how this stuff is installed?

Check this out, it should answer all of your questions
