Hi all.

I have approx 80-90 downlights to fit and maintain on my properties and was first considering ditching them/patching holes and fitting pendants but really don't want to tbh.

I've seen the collingwood I and not impressed with quality tbh.

Been looking at the JCC V50 (10 packs).

Are they quick disconnect as in pic?
I have emailed them and Lamplec but no reply...

Or should I fit the X50 or the type that I can replace the lamp?

Anyone reccomend?

Or should I just keep downlights to kitchens/4k and pendants fir the rest?

Cheers

with whatever GU10 lamps are desired.

Sealed affairs are a fail. Seen far too many from various manufacturers where they have failed after a year or two, exact replacements don't exist, manufacturers warranty entirely useless as required keeping original receipts registering with them at time of installation and other malarkey - and even if it was valid, it's a case of either a refund of whatever the piece cost and certainly not installation or replacement, or some substitute product which looks entirely unlike the others. Given that downlights are generally installed in modest to large numbers, having an odd one is not an acceptable choice for most.

Been looking at the JCC
Never buying any of their crap ever again. JCC claimed that their fangled downlights last for ever. The LEDs did - but the drivers failed in large numbers and even though the driver was a separate piece, it was not available as a separate item. Straight in the bin.

This is what I have in the lounge to replace two sizes of older fittings, down lighters and eyeballs.

Although they don't need to be fire rated at all, I liked the slimline style and the fact that one size of fitting fitted both hole sizes.

I seen they have a 7 year warranty with ** attached.

At this rate I'm going to fill holes and switch to pendants.
It's just not worth the price/time/hassle and maintenance.

That's a massive job filling the holes and IMO you will always be able to see where they were - are you good at plastering / filling - or have to pay someone to do it.
Replacing with new GU10s would be much cheaper. Replaceable bulbs.
But the issue with replaceable bulbs is that it will affect your EPC and will lower your score due to Part L

Not true, and no one cares about EPCs anyway, they are just a thing people are compelled to get when selling a house.
They are also grossly inaccurate and only cover certain items that the software knows about.

Not with rentals in Wales.
We have 'Rent Smart Wales' that is slowly getting rid of private landlords mate.

EPC C is minimum going forward.
You just need a good accessor or do the course yourself it's that simple.

How is it not true- talking about rental proprieties remember.
A replaceable bulb fitting that can be replaced with a Tungsten bulb will get a lower EPC than a fixed LED un replaceable bulb. Its all in part L isn’t it.
