What have you been doing today?

Try Kraresborough, just up the road, and Ripon.
We went to Knaresborough and then to Skipton today. Still as ethnically undiverse as a many of the places I visited in South Africa in 1982. There was a market on and a large charity fun run at Skipton and the place was buzzing with performers. A real Christmas party atmosphere. We had lunch at Skipton and as I was in Yorkshire, I had a toad int' 'ole for my lunch. Weather was fantastic today.

Doing a few bits and pieces getting the lounge renovation ready for Christmas.

We did the fireplace.
I added extra sockets to Mrs S's specification.
I re-sited the TV (not my idea, I was heavily out-voted and it nearly killed me doing it!).
We had the room skimmed.
We've had the guy in to do the decorating.
I have put all the sockets back.

Now I'm just doing a few bits before the carpet fitters turn up.

Fitting a new door handle. We have lived with old brass finish ones since 1999, so now as we decorate each room, we are changing them for polished chrome.

Re-instate all the BB and internet stuff.
It will be hidden by a bookcase...

Next is to put some quick setting mortar down on the hearth to level it out, where the new curved fireplace does not cover it.

Then new curtains.

Carpet fitter is due on the 10th.

So, a year late, but we will have our lounge finished in time for Christmas!

Drove back home from Yorkshire. Great to be home and back to the best tasting Southern water. Made a nice cuppa tea. That Yorkshire water tasted Kak!

We had a trip to Eastbourne today to collect my Kindle that I left in a hotel room in Spain a few weeks ago during our motorbike trip! I didn’t realise I’d left it until we had to take our electronic devices out of our cases at Malaga airport. I made a call to the bloke who owned the motorbike hire company in Spain, he got his secretary to go to the hotel to collect it, she knew a bloke that was returning to the UK and he brought it home with him. He works in Eastbourne and he offered to post it to me or even deliver it on his motorcycle but I decided to collect it myself. Mrs mottie came along for the ride and we did a bit of shopping then had lunch. Eating out can sometimes be a problem for mrs mottie as she has coeliac disease and must not eat gluten. I managed to find a gluten free restaurant and we had gluten free Fish & Chips. It was bloody luvverly.
