Speeding error

But as Mr. Loophole Freeman pointed out, it's not just a question of repaying fines and removing points. Some drivers will have lost their licence, and job, because of this.
It also allows anyone with a pending conviction to argue the speed limit was not in place and everyone will be entitled to claim costs and compensation.

Interesting.
Many Schools have variable speed limits outside the premises apparently operated by lollipop ladies (30 mph down to 20 mph which is typically used at the start and end of the school day). Several times I’ve noticed the flashing ambers are on at one end of the controlled section of highway but off at the other end. It is odd that they are independently switchable as technically you can enter an area at 30 but leave on a 20 limit, or vice versa. Or is the defence that the two lanes are subject to different speed limits for the short period of time when this occurs? All enforced by averages.

if its school leave / arriving time and anyone is going above 20 (even if the flashing signs say 70) then a good kicking, licence in bin and car in crusher

The laws on speed limit signs are very well defined, but frequently not complied with by those putting them up. Its the same for yellow box junctions.

Just yesterday I was travelling on a "30mph" limit according to the entry signs and the digital display on the car. Unfortunately, there were no repeaters nor a system of streetlights spaced less than 183m apart, hence the actual enforceable limit was 60mph. There are many of these in rural villages etc.

I casually noticed the street lights were 184m apart so I drove past the school at 60mph - i'm entitled
The very reason speed limits are actually needed
Most speeding c***s are.
The laws exist for everyone. Those imposing the limits and those having to comply.

Its not hard to comply with the signage laws and of course nobody sensible is going to drive at a stupid speed, because the limit is incorrectly signed.

Those gantry signs that change, I was on a motorway in a 40 gantry signed section limit then about 1/2 a mile ahead the next gantry said 60, but I was still in he 40 section - its not 60 until you get to the gantry and a lorry was right up my backside flashing his lights at me to go faster, what a tozer - he was probably that road rage nut job who just got 21 years.

could it be that the limit had increased after you passed the gantry and he had seen it?

Correct. Only those that think they are entitled to to the casual point of measuring the spacing of lampposts

You think not?

Why are so many "sensible" people caught speeding? Even if some are let off by technical errors

Just go with guilty and trust the prosecutor to tell you if it's unenforceable.
