On that last one, a while ago I was doing some work for a client and needed to put up a couple of WiFi access points (not very high up on a wall) - so just grabbed my ladder ... The client's guy on site asked if I'd done a risk assessment.
I responded that if I fall off the ladder, it'll be me that gets hurt - and as I'm averse to pain and suffering I'll be careful to avoid that.
His response was "ah, the French approach". But he was satisfied and let me carry on.
