London one of safest cities in the world

No, I don't think so.
I think we need a mayor (and a PM) with large attributes and stamp out all crime.
Looking at Giuliani's administration as an example or Bukele in El Salvador: they had the guts to put anarchists and leftists to one side and enforce the law.
Unfortunately in this country there are too many levels who dislike law and order and love criminals.

Fortunately in a safe area where we patrol our estate and we don't allow criminals to come near our area.
Some riff raffs tried in the past and they were very kindly and politely invited to move on; they complied.
However, as we get older and new neighbours move in, there's less and less willing to give up their time and engage with the neighbours.
They prefer to lock themselves in their Kingdom and pretend there's nothing outside.
In 15-20 years max, even our area will become a war zone, unless a central and local government with boll@x take over.
Which area is that?

Over the years the local hospitals have become experts at treating stab wounds so its no surprise murders have gone down
Exactly, and for this reason you should always count murders and attempted murders as the same crime.

Perhaps, there's no way to tell if that's increasing or decreasing, but if people are being stabbed and not seeking medical treatment then the youth of the day must be getting a lot tougher than we thought.

Not all crime, involves injury. I remember a time, when all reported crime would always be investigated, no matter how minor the crime.

So you are equating those two?

FYI giuliani flooded the streets with cops but New York still had a higher murder rate than London...

To some a cop on every corner meant a safer place, but reality says otherwise...

Whilst there should be more cops on the street in the UK, we are still lucky compared to the places you seem to aspire to!

Dependent on there being intent, I strangely find myself agreeing with you.

And sentencing should reflect that.

Perhaps medical intervention is better, so less are dying? there's more stabbings.
Not according to hospital reports...

"Hospital admissions for knife crime in the UK have generally been decreasing recently, with figures for England and Wales showing a notable fall in 2024/25 compared to previous years"

For the ones who do have to go to hospital, then care has and always will technologically wise improve the outcome...

Dependent of course on the funding, and that is a political issue ;)

Looking through historical crime data is weird.

We had 1,000 cases of sacrilege recorded in 1968. You old people lived in a strange foreign land.

You could look yourself if you're interested, there's some in the article I linked to.

Hospitalisations for youth knife crime is down massively, but knife crime offences themselves is more or less flat for example. Lots of mobile phones thefts and shoplifting.

Not a universally perfect picture, but falling murder rate is a good news story and worth enjoying.

Who said I did not

Khan was interviewed on the radio this morning if you were interested ;)

Knife crime amongst the blk population is on the up

Theft on the up

West London.
Can't give you exact postcode, but it's a civilised place, God knows for how long though.
Don't need to street, but west London is a large area. Just curious to know what area you're talking about.
