Flags to be Replaced

I don't feel the need to plaster flags everywhere, though.
Neither do I but these flags are already up and it lifts my spirits each time I work on a street filled with them. I would say everyone wants to keep them and why we are spending millions on getting the flags made to replace the others.

Which flags in particular are being replaced? Which poor dolt gets to do mini island duty?

That's an extremely ignorant point of view.

People who were born here (of all colours, white included) have said they feel uncomfortable (to say the least) with the flags up.
Our national flag shouldn't make anyone uncomfortable
We all know the flags don't represent patriotism.
They do if the flag hangers say they do.
Thats not for you to decide.

Correct. Just nationalistic, flag shagging bell-endism.

You are very much in a minority, with your strange ideas, and lack of patriotism. It's our national flag, why should anyone be ashamed to fly it?

If the show of nationalism makes you feel uncomfortable, then go find somewhere less uncomfortable to live.

But that's not what the flag hangers say, is it?

And if it is what they say, how come they're only saying it now?

If it's all about patriotism, why weren't these people hanging flags from lamp posts 10 years ago or 20 years ago?

I don't remember hundreds of flags being attached to lamp posts 10 or 20 years ago...

I don't remember people dying to put them up.

If I see a Spanish flag up when I go to Spain I shout flag shagger......putting their own countries flag up, bloody cheek.

In theory it should not.

In practice the unofficial "raise the colours" type of flag-flying operations do make people uncomfortable, and for very understandable reasons.

For anyone allowed to be here, including immigrants that have come through the proper channels, they should not feel uncomfortable.

For those that have entered the country illegally, they should feel uncomfortable, because they shouldn't have come here in the first place and would have known they are entering the country illegally.

These are the things that a patriotic goverment should be doing...

1. Decide who is to be deported - I'd say all those who have come here since Blair.

Harry Bloomfield, Highway Man, ReganAndCarter, algas, & pete01 agree with him.

A recent YouGov poll showed that 16% of the population want to see mass deportations of asylum seekers following the correct legal process, 11% want to see mass deportations of migrants coming to work in areas with skills shortages, and 8% want to see mass deportations of migrants working as doctors and nurses.
