Well done wind

What would be the significance of one word or the other?

A bit like Reform, who went into elections promising to save money by cutting waste, and cut taxes.

Reform UK councils unveil plans for tax rises and service cuts

Party controls nine English councils and leads three minority administrations after last year’s local election wins

"Several Reform UK councils have unveiled plans for above-inflation council tax rises as well as reductions in investment and service cuts, prompting accusations that the party is “betraying” residents.

Four Reform-led local authorities have so far confirmed plans for inflation-busting council tax increases.

Other proposals for 2026-27 include the closure of household waste and recycling centres, cuts to winter gritting and school crossing patrol budgets, selling off cultural assets and new parking charges.

Reform controls nine English councils and leads three other minority administrations after winning power for the first time in last May’s local elections.

Ahead of the votes, several leading candidates promised the party would “cut your taxes”.

Nigel Farage’s populist outfit also pledged to root out waste in a drive inspired by Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency in the US.

But less than a year later, draft budgets show Reform-led councils are turning to tax rises, asset sales and service cuts to help balance their books."

The dolts will still vote for them. Remember Brexit?

But less than a year later
What a load of whiney partisan twaddle. But the clue's tucked at the end. Did you expect a complete turnaround after a few months? Nobody else did.

I think most Reform voters are actually grown-up enough to accept that public services sometimes need to be cut to reduce taxes. It's only rampant screaming lefties that actually wet themselves whenever anyone mentions "cuts". Everyone else just thinks it's good decision-making to sometimes reduce things.

Good to hear that you think everyone supports cutting pensions, education and the NHS.

We're currently living in the times that labour party supporters have been dreaming of for over a decade. You'd think they'd be content and smug, enjoying the utopian life we're all now living. But it's not going well, even the most devoted disciples must be able to see it's all going wrong

Did you expect a complete turnaround after a few months? Nobody else did.

Only 13% are satisfied with the way Keir Starmer is doing his job as Prime Minister (n/c since September), with 79% dissatisfied (n/c), a net rating of -66 (n/c). This continues to be the lowest satisfaction rating recorded by Ipsos for any Prime Minister going back to 1977, worse than previous lows recorded by Rishi Sunak just months before the general election (-59, April 2024), and John Major (-59, August 1994).

Did you expect a complete turnaround after a few months? Nobody else did.

Can I ask the labour luvvies here... just how bad do things need to get before you work it out?

Did you expect a complete turnaround after a few months? Nobody else did.

In a couple of weeks Labour should be down to 10%. They're a zombie government, the population just wants them to give up and go away. THE most unpopular government ever in history.

Did you expect a complete turnaround after a few months? Nobody else did.

On the other hand, it's obvious that Labour also inherited a mess. But almost everyone can see that they're making things vastly worse, not better.

Did you expect a complete turnaround after a few months? Nobody else did.

Question for the few remaining Labour supporters...

When is utopia expected to arrive? I'm willing to wait for this fair, sharing and caring society - but when will it happen?

Did you expect a complete turnaround after a few months? Nobody else did.

What will actually happen is more of the same rubbish, followed by economic calamity, then handing over the wreckage to someone else. This is how every other Labour government has ended, there's no reason to believe this time will be different.

Did you expect a complete turnaround after a few months? Nobody else did.

Labour have done nothing to reduce immigration. Some words have been said, nothing has happened and probably won't ever because the party will block it.

Did you expect a complete turnaround after a few months? Nobody else did.

This may help the debate on comparing electricity costs per kWh

They are household prices, which are govt-controlled and subsidised in the UK.

Industry pays much, much more, possibly the highest prices in the world. Which is important, as that's why our pubs and many other businesses are shutting down. It definitely affects your household finances when you lose your job.

Like Winter fuel allowance to wealthy pensioners you mean? Lefty you say?

Lol.

Most better off pensioners I know that get this payout give it to their favourite charity. As would I if it’s still in place when I get my state pension

AND when Labour did their U turn why did they only decide to claw it back for pensioners with an income over £35k
