What have you been doing today?

It's on the table but yeah im sick of it lol.....gonna order a 1000 piece next this was a 500

When Beckham was still playing in UK, his manager walked into his kitchen one day to see him sitting at the table deep in concentration. He asked him what he was up to. "I'm doing a jigsaw, but really struggling with it".

His manager then asked him what the picture on it is - "it's a cockerel, boss", he said.

"Ok, David", said the manager "put the cornflakes back in the box!" :giggle:

Weather still not good so cracking on with a control panel for the campervan, I won't lie to you it's doing my nut in, could do with Pete and Highwayman here.

I've never touched auto electrics in my life, not sure about highway man, what's happening? And what's that?

I've never really understood electrickery.

We're getting there though with the help of some books and the internet. It's a slow process.
Well luckily I have wired up a fair few campers in my time, what's amazing about me is that I know so much stuff about everything I make it all sound so simple and on top of that I am amazing to look at too.

What you have done looks good to me, lighting and usb's etc out of your fuse box, leisure battery through your split charger, hookup through the RCD, all looks as it should from what I can see.

Just one thing that I can see now from your photo of your setup, the mains into your consumer unit for your hookup socket is lacking an earth, I can see your L & N but no earth which will need to be from your socket outside your van into your main earth terminal in your consumer unit. I was a little tipsy last night when I looked but my eyes are more focussed now.

I cannot see anything for mains hook up, apart from maybe 'something' in the top RH corner. Is the consumer unit located elesewhere, or do you not plan on needing EHU?

I have got a consumer unit which will go to an exterior socket for hooking up on sites and there will be just one 240v plug socket on the van. Also I have an inverter which will go to another 240v plug socket. I'm intending to put these on another panel, that's not done yet.
The box you can see on the right is simply an isolator for the solar panel feed.

Question.
The mains will go through an rcd consumer unit and from there to a socket, this consumer unit just has a single rcd.
Do I need similar for the inverter or can I just connect to it with a trip plug or do I need a 2nd consumer unit just for the inverter.

Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Depends on how you intend to use the inverter and the power of it. Inverters are generally wired via an Anderson plug and socket direct off your leisure battery, Taking into consideration the power draw will quickly flatten your leisure battery if kettle, toaster, microwave etc are used without your engine running so the split charge can keep your leisure battery topped up.

OMG I had to google Anderson plug.

It's a 2000 W pure sine wave inverter and will probably just have occasional use. I'm not doing a built in hob on this one, I'm going to use one of those portable 2 ring hobs that run off gas cannisters, not sure how well that will work but I can always have a rethink on that.

On the last van we just had a 100ah lead acid battery, for this one we've got a 300ah lithium battery. I doubt we'll go away for more than 3 or 4 days at a time.
