My sm's were supplied with an horrible, fairly useless liquid crystal IHD, long ago. I spotted a much more capable, used Chameleon IHD7, and after checking it should work with my meters, I ordered it, but the instructions for it, say very little about it's connectivity, other than it sounds interesting. What else can these do please? They seem to connect both to the meters, and to wifi.

Anyone got one?

Alot of people go down the home assistant route with dashboard etc lots of support out there.

EDIT:
WiFi is for CAD integrated versions and merely allows your supplier's App to display real time on it via a phone etc,.,
Alternatively the iVie app from Chameleon can do the same stuff.

Bright do similar with Hildebrand IHD CAD... that integrates to Home Assistant. Dunno if Chameleon does.

I've looked at HA before, it looks good, but I've failed miserably to make any sense of it..

I've also read mentions of people acquiring used IHD7's, but being refused access to connect them to their meters. I wrote to Octpus, including the IHD7's GPUID, explaining I had bought a used IHD7, asking if they could enable it with my meters, on Friday. I have not actually got the IHD7 in my possession, but the seller usefully included a photo of the GPUID. Octopus have just replied, suggesting they would enable the GPUID, with my meters.

Despite checking with Chameleon's 'check if your meter are suitable', before buying the used IHD7, I have not been able to get it to connect at all, and despite Octopus arranging with the meters, to accept the GPUID. After numerous email exchanges with Octopus, ending with my pointing out to them, that my meters are ancient SMET1, supposedly updated software to SMET2 - they have agreed the IHD7 cannot work with my meters. They have awarded me £40 off my bill, for the misunderstanding.

SMET1 meters are a pain. We were never given an IHD by OVO. We weren't bothered at the time. When we chased it up a couple of years later (when energy prices spiked) we were told that compatible IHDs were no longer being made. They offered to change us to SMET2 meters. We refused because it seemed such a waste of resources. We had chats several chats with Chameleon who claimed a particular version of IHD6 would work with SMET1. OVO said it wouldn't. We gave up.
