Hi All,

I have a small, ground floor window which is rotten and needs bricking up as this used to be the kitchen window about 10 years ago but we've since re-done the kitchen. I have the bricks. The window is around 1m wide x 1.2m high. If I remove the old window, any idea what a bricky would charge to do the work? Access is easy and no problem with parking outside the house. I've attached a pic.

Cheers
Daz

You going to remove half bricks up the side ready?
Just get prices. Won't take a day but it's a day's money

I guess I could remove the half bricks up the sides but not thought that much about it to be honest. Any idea what it'll cost? Alternative is to repair the window. It doesn't open anymore and is only there as 'decorative'. It's around the side of the house too. Do you think it looks repairable or at the very least, repaired to look good enough?

I was thinking about that but keep in mind this window doesn't function anymore and was there before we re-did the kitchen. What about chopping out the rotten timber and replacing that? Is that a viable and fairly simple thing to do?

No. It's blocked up by kitchen cabinets, worktop and glass splashback. I believe the gap where the window was was boarded up with plasterboard if that helps. Basically, any works need to be done outside only. Nothing inside.

If you're happy to leave the soldier course and the 1/4 closer bricks in you could expect to pay around £400 for labour, You might get it done cheaper.
