BBC News - Marmalade to be rebranded in post-Brexit food deal

And if we refuse, it the deal off?

Nothing to do with the topic , but I got my new Black Passport yesterday..

Not until we surrender..
It's only been 10 years since the referendum, and 6 years since we left the EU.
The remainers were always more visionary than Brexiteers, and many prophesied that we'd re-enter one day, only on far worse advantageous terms than those when we left.
I suspect this is just the beginning. We weren't at the table when it was discussed, we're kind of stuck with accepting their updated terminology.

Will they push for that?
They don't need to, they're already calling various other preserves a marmalade, and if we want to differentiate between citrus fruit preserve and non-citrous fruit preserve, we're kind of out on a limb.

Sensible. We don't want our old gammons buying a jar of marameleda and getting back home to find out they've bought a jar of rasberry jam. Can you imagine the (pink) outrage.

Good old British tradition made with imported Spanish fruit.
:D:D

I've been buying 'fruit spread' for years. This is my absolute favourite.

Over the bank holiday, maybe start a few more threads. I’m not sure you’ve got enough on the go.

It all makes sense, and not that unusual that Paddington liked Marmalade. He come from a Spanish speaking country.

But was it so obvious? Spanish colonialism of in part of North, Central and South America.

Did the Spanish introduce Oranges to these parts?
After all the Orange originated in Asia, did it come via the Pacific?

Was it the Arabs or the Spanish that introduced the Orange to Spain.

Does the UK not also import its oranges from North Africa?

Do Iceland grow more Bananas than Spain?

These are all questions that need answering.
