Legalising cannabis

In what way? Whatever is sold down dark alleys is of no concern to me.
Highwayman claims that crime and danger to health are are no concern to him.

Is he telling the truth? Perhaps he is just a bad apple in a crate of public-minded citizens.

Agreed, when drugs make the news, like when county lines are interrupted, or a consignment seized, there is no mention of the people buying the stuff. The fact that there is a market is taken as a given. It might be an idea to try to tackle that end of it.
That's been done before, but it's incredibly unpopular and ineffectual.

How many of the 2.9 million illicit drug users (excluding pensioners) should we be locking up? How long for? Will juries actually convict people with recreational levels of cannabis self medicating rather than using opioids?

The UK population is more or less split over legalising cannabis. 47/43 yes/no. What politician is stupid enough to die on that hill?

Crime and danger to health of someone else doing something that doesn't affect me is non of my concern, these criminals run the risk of being caught and prosecuted is also of no concern to me.
John worries over things that do not concern him and believes that we should all be worried over things out of our control.

The whole point of decriminalisation and legislating the use of cannabis is, of course, taking control back from the Cartel who currently run the organised sale of the narcotic.

The market remains after legalisation

The dealers sell stronger stuff and don’t pay taxes so they can sell it cheaper

At least a part of the problem ime is young lads are in contact with dealers who sell them them weed and then they’re getting coke and drug debts
The shops would keep them away from that
