Personally, I don't think the patching in is too bad. In time it will probably blend in when it gets dirty.

I used to be a Telewest/Blueyonder/VM customer (over coax). I had no reason to complain. The only bug bear was that when the internet service went down at 3AM you had to wait until other customers on the same node complained before they would action it.

Blueyonder??? now that brings back memories of my first install in Oct 2001 for a 0.5mbps line.

Oh, the days of 56k MODEMS. I used to use the free 0800 Blueyonder number on my Nokia 7650 to get free internet access... at 9.6k. I paid for the bizarrely named Doris web browser by Anigraff- it used JAVA to emulate a proper HTML browser rather than WAP.

When broadband first became a thing my area, we went with BY (over coax cable) because we were 2.2 miles away from the local BT exchange and BT would have been painfully slow.

Mine was a cable router n not a modem, my first device to get onto internet was a 33.6k diamond supra fax modem

Blimey, you may well be older than me. I recall that the first iMAC only had a 33.6k MODEM, even though 56K was becoming the de facto standard. That Jobs fellow was a tight git... but a canny salesman.

The 56kmodem came out a year after my purchase which was in about 98
