I was taking flags down so we expected some resistance, after the night shift it we did the job was deemed safe to do in the daytime. A group quickly arrived at the street where we were. Within mins they were all on their mobile phones and beckoning back up. Only two of us were tasked but it turned quite ugly. a small gang surrounded our hoists and told us to fek off and leave them alone, It escalated rom there on, I pushed one to the ground and he called the police. police arrived and took statements and released me as the mob started arguing with the police. I think they thought it safer that I was on their side, my mate who was with me just calmly whispered something in one of their ears and they retreated and we left the flags in tact.

Our instructions are to remove them, but not whilst we are doing other tasks. We have 4 teams to remove them on that task only. It is quite an expense to put us on double time plus the next day off so we tried on a day shift that didn't work out.
