ARISTON W/M, powder on clothes+ taking ages to wash

Sold a 5yr old clean Ariston washing machine, guy rings and says it is taking ages to wash 3/4 hrs to wash (according to tennant) and its leaving power on the clothes, i call out and the hot and cold were connected the wrong way, ie hot connected to cold and cold connected to hot inlet on machine, told him that was his porblem and the powder/suds on clothes would also be a factor, washed out the drawer for him,,,, would that be it solved ?
