Its my understanding that Xc leads and Xl lags the voltage however got conflicting notes from college for drawing phasor diagram can any one help in correcting me?
The notes are the same it was actually the drawing of the diagram wich is conflicting - sorry i cant post pic ill try to explain:
if using i as ref and in phase Vr would Xc come under the line and Xl above - have diagrams showing both but would assume that Xc would be above as it is leading not lagging (if that makes any sense)
yeah i use that method its just the drawing thats got me confused should Xc go under or above the ref line i would say above as it leads but my college notes show it below and im getting all confused over the drawing

thats exactly what im talking about theres an anticlockwise arrow on diagram however it appears clockwise when viewed ie:
Xc leads so phasor is before(below the ref) and Xl lags so follows(above the ref)
