Siting a boiler in a loft space is fine as long as long as you are using a room sealed appliance. If its atmospheric boiler then you are opening a whole different can of worms regarding interlocks on hatches and fire doors etc!!!
There are still a few precautions to fitting in a loft space with a room sealed appliance though:
Ensure that there is adequate frost protection, most boilers have this inbuilt but may require an external frost stat. Also remember lagging is your friend.
Ensure that all surfaces are the recommended distances from any combustible surfaces.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ensure that there is adequate room and adequate access and lighting for routine servicing and maintenance!!!!
Ensure that vertical flue arrangement meets or exceeds gas regs and does not interfere with neighbours etc.
A filling loop and additional pressure gauge somewhere accessible without having to access the loft is also a good idea!! (trust me!!)
A drain to soil stack is fine but again remember that frost protection should be provided so that it does not become blocked due to freezing
This is not an extensive list and there is probably something that i have forgot!! I'm not getting paid for this so...... lol
The boiler size is dictated by your system requirements. More info would be needed to spec a boiler. Size of megaflo unit, number of rads, sizes etc its hard to tell without seeing the job or having a lot more info.
Also if the 5 bed semi has a floor space larger than 150m2 then zone valves will be required to meet Part L
