Has anyone had laser eye surgery and has it worked well and what sort of cost is it for both eyes?

I know two people who have had it, and two people who have had problems - one had his done again.
One comment I always remember, is have a look at how many Opticians wear glasses or check out how many opticians have had their eyes zapped - you'll find its not that many for some reason
And if you have a heated windscreen, I've heard it's fun trying to drive at night.
Also, when I enquired a while ago, the optician said its an easy procedure and I would be able drive home afterwards. I said that is brilliant, as I have never passed my test and would come on the bus!

bloke at work had his done about 10 years ago..
doc's told him that his eyes would be about "normal" meaning that he could expect some level of short sightedness when he got older as that is an age thing.. ( basically your eye muscles get lazy.. )
he has to wear glasses now for reading small print, but not everyday stuff..
I suppose it's worth it is you figure £400 per eye ( ish ) or the cost of a new pair of spec's every year or so ( £100 ish.. )..
plus you can wear designer sunglasses and proper eye protection ( rather than "over goggles" or face masks.. )

my mate and a relative had theirs done a while back and they both reckon its good.
the cost depends on how blind you are and what type of blindness you have. they want £2.5k for my eyes , but i have the curse of astigmatism, which is the one they charge top dollar for.
there are also quite a few vision effects that you can suffer from if you are unlucky. as mentioned above night driving can be a problem as oncoming headlights can blur. my optician told me this and i pointed out that as my glasses are so scratched all the time its unlikely to make any difference as thats what happens now.
i was hoping the price would come down but i think i may just bite the bullet and get it done soon.

I had mine lasered about 5 years ago and the wife 6 years, it cost about £2,500 each we had it done at the Boots clinic in regent st
I did have to pay a second visit to have my left eye zapped again but we never had any problems otherwise
I did wear contact lenses for 25 years so the relef of not having to wear them was well worth it, no more taking them out before swimming, getting foriegn bodies under the lense, taking them out when they get dry and of course not having to search for them in between the setee

I had my weaker, right, eye lasered, about 4 years ago at a place just off Tottenham Court Road. Very minor discomfort for a couple of hours afterwards, no pain at all during the procedure.
First class results, I only wear glasses for driving at night now, to correct the slight difference in my left eye. A pleasure not to wear contacts or glasses all the time, and I get to choose any type of sunglasses.
