Was watching a repeat of home front in the garden the other day and they painted a patio with what they called acrylic concrete stain. looked a good job and I thought our patio looks a bloody mess and could do with cheering up, after searching the net I could not find the afore mentioned paint but I did find Ronseal Patio Paint. Anyone used it? or could anyone advise and alternative Cheers

What is the Patio made up off ?

What materials are you reffering to, that are needing to be overcoated ?

If your painting old slabs masonry paint is fine

The patio slaps are the standard square pinkish and yellow checkered type, looks like concrete to me. TBH I think I will try masonry paint as Zampa suggests, I have priced the ronseal patio paint and it would be cheaper to redo the lot in Italian granite. :D If it looks naff then its out with the grass seed.

Cheers Zampa, should I use a proper paint thinner of just water?
Anyhow why do I need to thin it? Is is because the blocks are porpus (like new plaster) and will suck all the mosture out of the paint?

Yep, you got it..if you dont thin it it will just sit on the surface and the water thats in it will absorb into the surface and leave the pigment behind...thats why a lot of paint flakes when its bene applied too thick

Superb thanks Zampa, will post a before and after pic when its done, hopefully after the weekend IF the bloody rain keeps off ;)

Personally I wouldnt have taken the chance though..masonry paint never lasts on slabs

;)

ok ok ..only kidding!!

Just make sure you maintain it every now and then and it should be fine

Had me going there for a minute

Chears Zampa for the advice, if I ever need any more tips on painting I will come here. Im off back to where I usually dwell now on the electrical forum

Thinking of painting my concrete patio and saw your posting. Looks good but I see that you did it about 18 months go - did it last?

Ive done mine Karen...the main thing is that you prepare well..ie a good scrub and pressure wash
