Who was under the patio :?:

Mine lasted about 5 years before I needed to repaint it...but I put decking down instead..it should be fine as long as there are no puddles etc.

    Rob,

I have a patio the same ghastly pink and cream colour that you had. Ive been trying to track down Ronseals Patio Paint to no avail.
So we are going to try the Crown Stronghold paint. Can you tell me what you thinned it will, was it just water for the first coat?

Also when we moved into the house, the patio had been laid badly by the previous owners and water tends to sit in puddles in various places.....if it does start to peel can we brush the loose stuff with a wire brush and retouch?

    Any advice gratefully received!

    Kelly.

I think it was stronghold but to be honest any of the branded masonry paints should do a job for you.

Better still use the pliolite based ones...thin the first coat by about 20% then do a full coat for the second one.

The only concern i have is that you mentioned 'puddles'...it wont last that well if its underwater for longish periods...you might have to do a bit of re touching here and there

    hi there
I've been surfing the net looking for solutions to my drab looking patio and found your posting - with pictures that could be taken of my own garden.

Can I ask what paint you ended up using and whether it still looks as nice today?

    many thanks
    Jo

    Hi there

The slabs on our patio looked very much like the "before" photo by an earlier poster before we painted them with Ronseal Patio Paint in April 2007. Just over a a year later, the paint has has lifted completely from a number of the slabs and partially from others, leaving a very unsightly area. I contacted Ronseal for their advice but they have been less than helpful. They say to treat it with an appropriate product, but go on to say they do not have an appropriate product and to find one ourselves. We are not regular DIY-ers and really don't have a clue where to go from here to cover the even more unsightly slabs, and cannot afford to replace the patio meantime. Your advice would be very welcome. Many thanks.
