ANY ONE HAD OPPORTUNITY TO TRY THE DL 9083P Multifunction Tester YET?

im about to buy my first tester, and already been advised on the megger at moment looking at 1502 or 1522 or possibly the fluke, just the dilog looked more handheld, more like a multimeter and thought it may be an option to consider

also looking at a megger AVO 300 multimeter for general use, are they ok?

I had a brief play with the DiLog and didn't like it at all.
I'd only recommend Megger.

why ask this question. you asked on 2/6 wwhich is best out of megger and fluke.

you get what you pay for. i recommend megger (just my preference)

RF,
have you used the eurotest at?

looks like a nice piece of kit, especially with the easiswitch.

Yeah, we have one of those at work. I've only used it a couple of times, and to be honest, it seems a little over complicated to me.

There are lots of things which it can do, but I doubt you would ever actually need.

Another thing I've found with it is the tester has rechargeable batteries, and they don't seem to last very long at all. When fully charged they do not last a day, which is very annoying if you are out doing periodics for example.

I personally own a metrel instaltest 61557, and find it just right for me. It does every test I would ever need to do and nothing else (no fancy functions like the eurotest), its straight forward and easy to use, and the batteries seem to last for ever :D

I'm not sure about the easiswitch thingie. I don't think the one I used had that.

as money is a issue (isnt it always) looking for advise on:

fluke 1651 brand new from shop calibrated (no remote probe) under £400

metrel easitest ebay no calibration £225

fluke 1652 calibrated all leads etc £480

would of liked megger but its a starting point

Used a Fluke 1552 recently and quite liked it, bettery life is reasonable too.

If you get the Metrel off ebay you will need a relavent calibration certificate for it so bear that in mind as an extra cost.

that 1652 is too dear mate, only 550 quid new .

i wouldnt buy anything without a calibration cert either.this does not have the hallmarks of a responsible user imho.i fact i wouldnt buy a second hand tester as i like to know its history, thats just me though and im sure ive turned my nose up at a few bargains over the years

cheers for the input RF btw :D

I BOUGHT DI-LOG 9083P LAST WEEK! GOOD INSTUMENT AND ALOT SMALLER THAN SOME OF THE MEGGERS IVE USED!
1 FAULT WITH IT IS THAT IT DONT DO 3 PHASE ROTAION WHICH IS NOW A REQUIREMENT FOR THE 17TH EDITION!
TAKING IOT UP WITH DILOG ON MON! ALOT OF NEW MULTIFUNCTION TESTERS DONT HAVE THIS FACILTIY SO WATCH OUT!

STOP SHOUTING!!!

Is three phase rotation definitely a requirement of BS7671:2008?
Is so, how can 17th edition compliant testers be sold without this feature?
I have a Megger 1552 which doesn't have a phase rotation test but then again, I have a separate tester for that so it doesn't really bother me.

sorry didnt realise i had caps on! lol!
I have just done the 17th edition course last week and sat the exam on thurs! Yes 3 phase rotation is def a requirement! Im either going to see if I can change the meter or if not going to have to buy a seperate unit that carries out this test!
Regards
