Bathroom Lighting PIR & Downlighters Possible?

Hello,
Im a little sad an excentric!!!
I am redoing a bathroom and fancy something a little different... I am planning two downlighters (not a huge room) and wished them to be activated by a sensor & timed?
So-
A) downlighters in ceiling. Was planning 240v GU10 in ceiling. Is this Ok?
B) as for gadgets, can a PIR style timed sensor work? Is there something on the market for this?

Thats how they've done it down at my local social club.

Just ensure the downlights and sensor have the correct IP & fire ratings.

You can get PIRs designed for this which flush mount into the ceiling.

I have fitted loads of these into pub toilets.

Make sure you set the time right. You wouldn't want to be sat on the throne when it all goes dark, and you have to get up to turn the lights back on again

Its not that its just where I live a really strange think happens every night just after I get home and towards the colder time of year even before I get home........ IT GETS DARK!!!!

Same here.

But at certain times I've noticed that it isn't always dark when I'm in my bathroom.

I've noticed this because I have an aperture in one of the external walls which allows light from outside, when there is some, to enter the bathroom, thus making the use of the electric lighting within it unnecessary.

Hmmmm... So lets get this straight... from that aperture comes light... not from the bulb above your head? So you think I should go without the sensor and stick with a switch? WOW how did you get your typewriter to type on my computer screen!!!! Pardon the pun but how are the dark ages!!!!

monkeys, i think you are missing BAS's point that if you just fit a PIR then your light will come on when you enter the room even when its already light (from the sun). so maybe you should thank BAS for pointing out this floor in your plan and ask for suggestions on solving that problem (cough, photodiode, cough).

(sorry for spelling it out but the tediousness was annoying me)

If the forementioned had not of been such a Jockey on a subject he knew nothing about..... he would have known that a big-ish (HUGE) difference between standard and specific sensors is that they have sensors that prevent them from coming on when room is light already!!! Thus saving energy.... I guess MY WHOLE POINT!!!!! Currently sensor comes on around 7pm before that its too light!!!!
Working perfectly and highly recommended.
Good luck to anyone also considering this. Easy and a real benefit!
