    Spur Fused Unit

Hi, I would get a spark to do it for you! I agree with the last poster, I would wire up to another socket, not a spur. 13a would be the wrong fuse rating for a TV!! Don't run the ariel in the same conduit BTW. Dunc

    Building off existing concrete floors

I have a double garage and would like to convert one into another room. The dividing wall between the two garages is a cavity 4/3/4 block wall. There is a large opening in the wall approx 2 mts. I would like to cloe this gap, leaving just a normal door frame. There is a lintel over the gap so it...

    Anyone got a Makita 4304T jigsaw....got problems

Hi, Bought the above off ebay checked the motor when it arrived but not the blade clamping. I can't seem to get the blade to clamp and fully tightened can easily be pulled out. Its the model where the top is unscrewed which releases the blades clamps. Any ideas? Cheers

Lining up an engineered floor around a room divider

Hi Woodyoulike, Yes that makes sense! S you end up with a fat 'L' shaped section with blocks to keep the empty space edge straight. Then remove the blocks and fill in the space? As a matter or interest why does it matter which way they are laid. ie tongue away or towards wall you are laying...

Lining up an engineered floor around a room divider

Hi, Laying an engineered foor in my lounge/dining room. The two rooms total about 7mts long and 3 wide. However they are divided at right angles by a large archway approx 1500mm wide. The walls that form the archway are a right angles to the line of the new boards. If I start laying one side of...

Problem with discharge height of toilet

I have put a shower in a downsairs toilet. The soil pipe was cut off at floor level and a new 100mm connector fitted with a 40mm side inlet. Into this went std 100 mm T and into T went pan connector. Trouble is that the pan connector [about 450mm long] now slopes up so the T end is about 30mm...

    Joining into existing manhole...3ft down...

Nige, Thanks for the link but the existing clayware is already a right angled bend, my connection will make it into a T. As I see it the slipper would only help if i were connecting into a straight thro joint? l l...

    Re-pointing chimney stack

Hi, First carefully check contition of brickwork and joints. Often this can be very poor and difficult to see from ground level. Assuming its repointing only I would use a 9 parts soft and graded sand, 3 lime and 1 cement. Sieve the sand through a vegetable strainer, this takes out any small...

    Joining into existing manhole...3ft down...

Hi, I hope someone can help with a technical issue on the above. I have an existing brick built manhole with a right angled bend at the bottom made from salt glaze pipe. Its about 850mm deep. I need to join in to this to effectively make it a 'T' going with the existing flow. The new 100mm...

    Footings

Hi, to clarify, typically the trench for footings will need to be 1250 deep. This can vary depending on the ground, [heavy clay being one of the worst] and the building inspector. The 600mm wide relates to the thickness of the intended wall typically 100/75cavity/100 ie total of 275. This wall...

    plastering a huge wall

Hi, I would not put any sort of profile up but simply feather off wherever i finished. But not in a vertical line as unless you are skilled this will notice as the eye will follow. if you do it diagonally the eye doesn't easily pick up the line of any fault..... When you start the next day wet...
