    Bathroom floor tiling

Unfortunately it's painted wallpaper so will be taking it off to see what else is happening behind. I've managed to get the bigger tiles off which seem ok but it's just a small segment of the wall so need to see what the rest of the room is doing. What would you recommend priming with?

    Bathroom floor tiling

That's really helpful thank you. Ad for the walls, I've just taken off a couple of the tiles to see what's behind and it looks so far to just be plaster and in ok condition. If I smooth it down, will it be ok to tile directly onto or does it need some prep work too?

    Wrong grit paper!...advice

We've rented a floor and edging sander to get the downstairs of our house done over the weekend. Rented from a local shop but they've only given us 60/80/120 and we should've ideally got 40 (at least) to begin with. The place isn't open on weekends and have to give the machine back tomorrow...

Painting prep for going over old walls

Thank you!! We have been working on the front room now and it's not TOO bad. Unfortunately one of the alcoves is a total mess and the adhesive is so stuck. I've heard there's a product called Dif which is meant to be good for removing it but also was advised it's for professionals (which I am...

Any tips on the best/most effective way to remove staples? We are ripping up the carpet and want to get the floors sanded back but need to firstly remove all the staples. I was planning on using pliers and a knife but want to know if there's a better tool I should be using. Thanks

Painting prep for going over old walls

I've stripped the wallpaper in our master bedroom and rather than getting it reskimmed we are going to clean/sand/fill holes etc. Could anyone give me any good tips on doing this to get the best finish? Obviously the best thing would be to get it reskimmed but that's not an option at the...

Grey plaster cracked after steaming wallpaper

I've been trying to steam off wallpaper in our 1920s semi we've just moved into. In the kitchen there's a small alcove which is like to restore as a pantry but having steamed off the textured wallpaper and revealed a grey plaster underneath I've realised it's been wallpapered over to obviously...

    Restore or replace Grout?

I used HG mould spray from b&q which was recommended by a tiler and has worked extremely well. In the past I've found regular bleach/cleaning sprays don't work well but this was great. its about £5 and you leave it on for 20/30 minutes then wash it off. Smells very strong so need to make sure...
