Many thanks @opps I never thought of that! I undid all the screws as I couldn't completely remove the middle hinge but basically took it out of the equation. That gave me a bit more clarity on what needed doing. And now it works great, door no longer fouls on the trim. Wife will not kill me...

Just updating thread: I noticed that Duravit cylinders looked uncannily similar to the ones on my V&B Architectura seat. Lo and behold they were less than half the price and fit perfectly. Pic of the ones in my seat:

Brick step in the garden has started crumbling. Is there any off-the-shelf mix I can get to redo the bricks? Am assuming I just need some kind of cement? The step is very infrequently used, by the way. Any help much appreciated!
