    AGB hidden hinge adjustment

Many thanks @opps I never thought of that! I undid all the screws as I couldn't completely remove the middle hinge but basically took it out of the equation. That gave me a bit more clarity on what needed doing. And now it works great, door no longer fouls on the trim. Wife will not kill me...

    AGB hidden hinge adjustment

This is doing my head in. Got an interior door with AGB hidden hinges (I think Eclipse 3.0), and despite mucking around with it and adjusting it here and there, the door won't sit nicely in the frame and fouls on a flooring join/strip. I'm not a professional, just joe public. Here's a video of...

Smell from shower drain when upstairs flushes

Hi peeps I now live in an old 1950s 1st floor flat built like a battleship with 2ft think walls in Tallinn, Estonia. We've had bathroom done and have a shower drain that smells, it coincides with when we can hear water suddenly rushing down through the big pipe in the wall (about 6ft away)...

Villeroy & Boch soft close cylinders

Just updating thread: I noticed that Duravit cylinders looked uncannily similar to the ones on my V&B Architectura seat. Lo and behold they were less than half the price and fit perfectly. Pic of the ones in my seat:

Villeroy & Boch soft close cylinders

Hi all Cylinder is leaking on a v&b soft close toilet seat. New set is about 70 quid! Anyone know if there any compatible ones I can use? (eg cheaper ones)?

    AEG model code deciphering

Hi there I'm looking into AEG models (BUT...I currently live in Estonia) and although I'm sure there's a UK equivalent I can't find it on the UK AEG site when I search for the model, I just get other Baltic/Eastern European sites that sell the same model. Can anyone help me on what the...

EICR needed - consumer board replacement cost?

Hi all I'm renting my flat out (London, E17) and am having an EICR done. Before the guy gets here I'm assuming I'll need a new fuse board installed? This is what it looks like at the moment: What I'm after is a rough 'from' cost. Assuming everything else is ok, am I looking at 'At least...

Living room and d/s hall lights out, rest of floor fine

Weird one here: Both my living room and hallway light on the ground floor stopped working at approximately the same time the other day. Tried the usual, swapping bulbs for known good, checking fuse box etc. The living room dimmer isn't making that buzzing sound they normally make when turned...

What do I need to fix this brick step?

Errrr, no, actually. The step on the other door is identical and I'd like them to look the same.

What do I need to fix this brick step?

Thanks for the advice, think I'll just patch it up rather than putting new slabs down. Cheers!

What do I need to fix this brick step?

Brick step in the garden has started crumbling. Is there any off-the-shelf mix I can get to redo the bricks? Am assuming I just need some kind of cement? The step is very infrequently used, by the way. Any help much appreciated!

Can anyone tell me what problem I have here?

Right, I've finally gotten around to pulling a bit of the plaster off. Looks like plasterboard underneath, which is a bit soft (dents if I press my knuckle to it firmly (don't know if this is normal)) and also cuts with a blade quite easy (see video). Not got enough experience to know whether...

Can anyone tell me what problem I have here?

How can I tell if it's lime or cement render? I'm probably going to take off the patchy bits of render on the interior to let it breathe a bit anyway.

Can anyone tell me what problem I have here?

No, as far as I can see it looks like the old exterior wall - the join where the extension is now.

Can anyone tell me what problem I have here?

Yes handyman77 I bought the place about a year ago, but it hasn't got any worse (can see from pics I took when I first viewed house). I'm usually pretty good at picking out things like this but the rest of the house was in such a good state I must've ignored it. Knocking on the tiled bit it...

Can anyone tell me what problem I have here?

Hello all I think I may have a damp problem in the extension to my kitchen. I am no expert but I reckon there's moisture behind the plaster, but I can't see any obvious problems from the outside. Can anyone tell me; does this look like an 'obvious' problem to anyone? Thanks!
