    Tanking

I sent a sample to the manufacturer and got this reply:- 'The back of the sample looks very dusty which has obviously affected the adhesion. This could be for one of 2 reasons: The primer has been applied to a dusty surface thus preventing it from penetrating the surface, or the wall is...

    Tanking

Hi. I wondered if anyone's had this issue with tanking before? After applying a certain tanking kit featured on a youtube ultimate handyman video, I peeled off the masking tape I'd put along the edge of the bath...to find in places the tanking membrane peeled off the wall too (see below). I...

    connector strips

Hi. I've tiled my kitchen, and unfortunately can't refit the cooker socket as there's not enough slack in the cable to reach the socket properly! Can I simply get some 6mm2 twin and earth and use connector strip inside the knockout box to extend by 10-15cm and make it possible to refit it? If...

    Tiles dispute

I posted about the marks earlier:- //www.diynot.com/forums/tiling/marks-on-tiles.407219/ Tried Grimex (dilute and neat), vinegar, bleach, bicarbonate of soda in water and a couple of other pH cleaners in shops. Nothing makes a difference.

    Tiles dispute

Hi. I recently tiled my kitchen using some Hi gloss black tiles. Being high gloss black, they came with protective chalk/wax lines on them (so when they're packed together in a box they don't get scratched I presume). Now these chalk lines are meant to wash off with water, which they do, but...

Tiling - simple question for pro tilers

Hi. A very simple question for all you Pro Tilers out there. At what stage in the tiling process would you normally remove the protective wax/chalk type material that comes on some wall tiles? Also, I'd be particularly interested in hearing from anyone who's done a City & Guilds tiling course...

    marks on tiles

Nobody? Further info - the tiles when they arrived were wet/damp (I'm guessing from being stored outside). I got a note from the supplier saying they had spotted this, but it shouldn't be a problem. Could rain have etched the tiles after being trapped by the chalk/transit wax? T

    marks on tiles

yep, definitely on the tiles. I'm wondering if the protective chalk (if that's what is it) has etched them somehow

    marks on tiles

Hi. I've just finished installing a load of black gloss kitchen tiles. The tiles were 20x10cm, with 4 lines of protective chalk down them. Where the chalk lines were, once wiped off with warm water, are visible marks that don't seem to come off with anything. I've attached a couple of photo's to...

best/usual way to tile window sill?

Hi. I have two options to tile my window ledge, shown in the pics below - either I extend the brick pattern, or lay the tiles perpendicular to the window. Is there a "normal" way to do it? I'll have a piece of chrome trim in front. Thanks
