Just one other bit of information, not sure if it helps or not, but the Remeha is currently supplying (in the main house) 28 radiators of various sizes and underfloor heating in the conservatory which is 10m by 4m.

Have you considered using ground source heat, biomass and/or solar to off-set the need for gas.
If you are looking at 15K for upgrading gas pipe, there's your budget.
Not a mansion but still a good size property.
You installer should update his knowledge of insulating pipework , and maybe gas pipe sizing.

i wasn't aware that medium pressure meters were being fitted anywhere yet, they have been around for 6 years but apart from training centres i haven't seen one in use.
It's not the meters that are MP it's the regulators. Been around since i can remember.

Thats utter rubbish!! PEX make a twin pipe enclosed in a reinforced outer case, with insulation within designed to be buried underground for use as heating mains between buildings, this would have been ideal for your project, (by the way you will find running the new boiler on LPG Very Expensive, so think very carefully about doing that!!)

the plot thickens!! you say that you know the supply is MP but to what point? boundary or to your meter? is the regulator on the meter a complex looking item or simple, like a jelly mould?
i think you have the advantage here. first, if transco estimated your usage at 80 KW and you paid for a supply to be fitted at that capacity, you could have a claim against them for breach of contract. the meter is rated at 64KW and who knows if the service pipe is sufficient.
it's simple for them to rectify that once you've made the right noises.
next, the people who fitted the second boiler are very much at fault for failing to ensure the supply was adequate for the installation before selling you the system for the games room. go to them first, tell them you want your money back for this system which isn't legally installed and can never run legally on the existing meter. then use the money to connect the games room to the main system with enough left over for hubby to buy a huge train set!

you don't actually eliminate the problem as your U6 has always been too small for the installation as proposed to wonderful transco.
can you remember if transco fitted the meter or did a supplier like BG turn up later to fit one?
Right, I have looked at the Transco paperwork and it does seem to indicate the supply is MP right to the house. It inlcudes phrases such as: ''Connection type: 1 x MP 32mm tapping tee connection off existing 63mm MP PE Main. Also, ''Customer wants MP service to follow new watermain.''
I will look at the meter in the morning to see what the regulator is like and I agree it is definitely worth getting in touch with Transco regarding the supply of an inadequate meter.
Then, if I can run the Games room rads off hte house boiler that would be a great result.
Finally, you are right, I do need to talk to the plumber who installed the 2nd boiler - at the least he may be able to buy back the boiler, we may no longer need!

I think Transco have a get out.. the accompanying letter to their quote states: 'Please note, the quoatation attached does not inlcude for the provision of installation of gas meters.
Great! This was all carried out by the previous owners, but I am guessing they just went to BGas as you suggest.

Don't - I have had builders here since last May and still have one more project to go - I can't face the idea of a swimming pool - it will take me over the edge, literally!
