I am knocking down a wall and whilst I usually use needles on props, in this instance due to services/ head restrictions, I am using strongboys on props.

I have never used strongboys before and when I crank up the props, the plate doesn't stay level and due to the eccentric load the prop visibly bows!!

Is this normal? Does not seem great to me. Not sure if I have over stressed them? I am concerned if they are not cranked tight then the cantilevered strongboy will deflect slightly.

Are you saying the acrow prop bows? The plates often have a bit of give in them but I've never seen the prop actually bow before. Is it at the maximum extension?

The 'telescopic' nature of the prop means that the move-able (male) part of the prop does not fit snug inside the female bit and is not meant to.

There is bound to be visible deflection at this joint when an eccentric load is imparted upon the prop. I would expect it.

However, each individual unit is not meant to bend.
