...Going ahead with a quote on a roof replacement (leaks inside & outside looks rather poor).

I will be getting 3 - 4 quotes from roofers who all seem to think the whole roof needs replacement

My knowledge on roof jobs is about equivlant to Zero so I am not sure what it is I should be asking them to try figure out what the issues are and what it is they will be doing. :?:

What are the typical things that actually happen / get installed with a roof replacement?

Just want to be able figure out if they are making stuff up or if its genunine..I have put below a picture of the roof below as well.

Many thanks

Agree but a general sense of trust has been established given that they have been asked to quote.

You don't really fully trust anyone till the job is fully done, full stop.

So ignoring the trust thing, what are the things you'd be looking or checking for?

It depends what you are looking for in your quote.

You can be quoted for removal of existing roof covering including felt and battens and renew.

Or renew felt, battens, tiles, lead to chimney stacks, velux etc.

As a rule of thumb a roof renewal would be the whole covering, vents if required, eave trays, gutters, facings, barges and any remedial works to chimney stacks etc.
You need to be specific and make sure the quote covers everything you are looking for.

Just go for a 1970's style job - rip off all the slates and slap a load of redland 45's on ;)
