Hi I am in the process in installing a warmer drawer. It comes with moulded plug. My plan was to wire a socket off a junction box That sits on top of the kitchen cupboard out of site. However the installation instructions say “the appliance must be connected to a earthing socket”.
Does this mean a socket sunk into the wall earthed to a metal back box or is my original plan ok?
I’d appreciate your advice ... thanks

If it comes with a plug, then all you can do is plug it into a normal socket.
Is the earth pin metal?

All sockets in the UK would/should/will be earthed.

It's probably a poor translation from wherever it was made.

Hi thanks for the quick responses. The junction box is power not lighting. The earth pin is metal. From what you say my original plan would be ok then as I understand it. Would you agree?

If your warming draw gets similar use as mine, then just dangle the plug down the back and tell the wife job done. She’ll never know.
