Council tenant Michael Stewart stopped paying rent and neighbours reported his front door was broken

The council (Aberdeen) took there time sealing the flat up with out checking inside

Plod eventually found the body of Mr Stewart in the flat were he had been dead for over 8 weeks

That is a sad way to go. It says a lot that not one person was in contact with this poor person.

Mr stewarts mother Jand Grant sought an apology from the council

On the 30th of October Angela Scott chief exec emailed a Councillor

Saying a heartfelt apology was given to Mrs Grant and we have sought to support her

Mrs grant is on benefits and has had to pay 5 grand funeral costs

In a good will gesture the council recently sent her a bill for £800 for releasing her sons body

Mrs grant is not sure how much more apology and support she can expect from the council

Average burial cost in the UK is just over 4 grand, so allow for tabloid rounding and there's your 5k

My mum's funeral was about 3k from memory. That's roughly 7 years ago
