Danesmoor Capacitor Removal

I’m not sure when they stopped using this burner but there are loads about.....both balanced flue and room air models have been used on this boiler.
This one runs at 100 psi pump pressure and use a solid nozzle (0.50 S) with a CO2 level of 10.5 if I remember.
The oil pump has a cartridge type filter, under an allen screw on the side.
John :)

Yeah that's it. I've replaced all those parts you mention in the past.
Does that mean the c107/9 you recommended will work with this mate?

Sure, just double check the uf value is the same.
The bolt mount is for convenience, the casing doesn’t need to be earthed to the motor.
Good luck with it - to set the burner up properly you’ll need an oil pressure gauge ( plugged into the pump port marked P) and a flue gas analyser. The latter is the expensive bit!

I ordered the one you suggested. Thanks
I've just realised I stupidly paid no attention to which wire went to which on the capacitor. I had one blue and one brown. Does it matter which way around they go?

Caught me out there, but if there's no marking or colouring I don't think it matters.....its only on DC that they get grumpy - but don't hold me to it!!

Cheers. Expect if not working nothing will happen untoward and I just swap around.
Thanks for all your help.

It does not matter which way it is connected.
It is in series with the start winding to create a 90 phase difference to the current in the run winding.

To test the motor on the bench, connect 250v to it and switch on.....if the cap is no good the motor wont know which way to spin, and you can spin the spindle yourself.
Jeez.top idea for personal injury

Not really - the motor clamps onto the Workmate and the spindle is 6mm with a flat.
If the capacitor isn’t playing ball a quick twist by gloved hand sets it off.
Sometimes these motors will spin up to speed but have so little torque they are easy to stop - again with a gloved hand.
A reasonable enough test, I feel but each to their own.
John :)
