Hi All,

I have a roof which abuts that of the next door, the builder said that he has put a channel where the 2 roof tiles meet, the builder said that he installed the channel and used cement to flatten it and tidy it up.

This is a picture of what the channel looks like.

When I asked the builder why it looks like this because every other house, the roof tiles flush n flat out nicely, he said that the neighbours tiles are bigger than mine and so cannot neatly flat out.

I want to know if this is the norm or if this is acceptable.

Thanks in advance.

The principle is OK but his workmanship is appalling. The tiles should butt up to the GRP valley trough upstand with NO mortar infill and the side lap joints of the tiles should not be visible. Is there a reason why you have different tiles to your neighbour? It looks really naff.

He couldn’t be ar$ed to get the batten gauge right at the top either
Edit: or the bottom

Hes not a roofer! i dont see that bonding gutter in your pics.

At this stage, is it better to take it all out and install a ridge?

Thanks in advance.

If you copy the photo and zoom in it looks like the GRP trough has been completely covered with a mortar fillet and the idiot "builder" has made steps in it to match the tile coursing. It is not a pretty sight. Mind you nothing on that roof is a pretty sight, I wonder if he let his guide dog do the roof?
