Stupid conservatory design imo.

Dug out all the polystyrene in the cavity to find ants had made a colony.

We are wanting to tile the floor but that cavity isn't our friend.

Would it be that much of an issue just to fill it with concrete with a waterproofer added to the mix?

If yer not too fussed about cold bridging line it with DPM and Fill it with concrete

You can't waterproof concrete, and thay would form an excellent child bridge and route for damp.
Put insulation back in, and a surface DPM coating across it and the blocks.

lean a dpc against the outer brickwork and fill it with expanding foam......
after killing the ants.
