Best seal between bath and tiling boards?

Hi all, currently in the process of replacing plasterboard around bath/shower with Jackoboard waterproof tiling boards, and will be putting new bath in next week.

I’m wondering the best way to get a watertight seal between bath and the boards, prior to tiling. There seem to be many different products, all claiming to be the best.

Ideally I do not want silicone sealant visible after tiling if at all possible.

Any advice appreciated.

You can get a special sealing tape.

It's a TPE-coated polypropylene fleece equipped with a butyl strip.

The strip is most important, and so is the sealing of the wall afterward.

Please expand on your expectation of no silicone?

I’m just wondering whether there’s a way so that the silicone sealant (which, I agree, is vital) can be hidden somehow. In my experience, despite trying to take good care via cleaning, drying after use etc, it almost always still goes black in parts, which I hate.

That is one part of what you require for your desired application, the important part is the butyl strip.

High quality silicone does not go black, either your silicone is poor quality, the wrong type for the application or applied improperly.

You can achieve very small silicone joints, but everything needs to be very precise. At that point your bath itself might be the major cause for any additional joint width required, as they can be warped etc.

You can get integrated seals and tile systems that require no silicone, but I am very dubious!

Black is mould , which occurs with poor ventilation.
