Hi all - what type of wood should I be looking for to replace the rotten trim on these roof fascias?

Those are 'Bargeboards'. Pressure treated Pine (redwood) if you have timber but may I suggest UPVC as it will last longer and need less maintenance.

To replace you need to be able to safely access the height of the ridge without stretching off of a ladder.

Is the barge board not the main bit of wood? I am keeping that but need to replace the totally rotten trim fixed to the top of it. Thanks

It's all rotten, and I suspect the ends of the slate battens might be similar. Not only that, but the "blockiness" of the rot suggest dry rot rather than wet rot. Either way, it's all got to come off and something new put in place. It really needs scaffolding, stripping and sorting with new. Anything else is a bodge.
