That's my backup if he persists. It's not quite as simple as that though as there's a waste pipe and service pipes (HW, CH) boxed into the corner and a window on the side close to that, so I can't just box around the waste pipe boxing. I'd have to think inside the box with some type of 3d printed piece to flow air around the existing pipes.
The key is not to do unrelated building works in the same room as the new kitchen during the BCO period of inspection. Then you're good.
The key (for us pro's) it to just adhere to reg's regardless of whether they are inspecting or not. Mechanical extraction in kitchens, bathrooms utility rooms etc, is rudimentary stuff.
