Strong words about people who are pointing out the obvious truth that the Merchant Navy are not the armed forces.
I've not seen anyone dispute the fact that they were patriots and heroes.

I don’t think anyone has said otherwise ? They just aren’t members of the armed forces.
I thank the merchant navy for their service to our country. Great, brave people.
