What have you been doing today?

We went to Brighton today to cheer on Miss Mottie in her first marathon. She was as nervous as hell, thinking she might not finish it but she did well, 4 hours 32 minutes but she said she started to feel sick around the 10km mark and that she’s never doing another one. :ROFLMAO:

Our grandson made a banner for his Auntie and we caught up with her at the halfway mark where I gave her a banana and a couple of energy gels.

Dunno how she's feeling now but I’m knackered and aching just walking nearly 7 miles!

Another hospital appointment today, this time to fit the heart monitor - part of their attempts, to work out what is causing the weird panic/anxiety episodes. They originally said it would be monitoring for 72 hours, but today they said only 24 - they want it back tomorrow, complete with a form filled in, detailing any episodes I have. Total waste of time, I will not be having any, but if I do, I'm supposed to press a button on it, and complete a report. Besides which, during the episodes, I have checked myself and found no physical symptoms at all.

I was suffering multiple episodes per day, until a couple of weeks ago, when after a year of them worsening, they finally diagnosed them, and gave prescribed a med for them. A week ago, I was still suffering an occasional episode, sorted by increasing the meds slightly, now none at all, and so none to try to capture with monitor.

Tomorrow, two phone appointments, with the hospital. Day after, another hospital appointment to pre-op assess me.

Accepted an offer on my mums bungalow. First time buyer with a decent deposit according to the estate agent. I told him it stays on the market though until this buyer shows us the colour of his money and makes contact with my solicitor or arranges a survey or even shows us the mortgage offer on this property. I had enough Billy big spuds put offers on the workshop were selling, only to disappear into the ether and not respond to calls from our estate agent. You wouldn’t believe the number of bulls hitters out there.

I'm not a doctor, however I have diagnosed your problem.

Reading the DIYNot general discussion forum!

I prescribe no more than 10 minutes reading of the forum per day and not at all on Sunday's.

;)

(jokes aside hope you get it all sorted soon)

I dug up some assorted plants from my mums garden and replanted them in the bed at my end of the road that I’ve adopted ( there’s 3 in total down my road and the council just let them run to weed and people dropped litter in them etc). Anyway, one of them was what I thought was just a clump of bluebells but they have started producing strange type of flower heads. Today I noticed that they have started to open and I had to look them up. Caribbean Lily apparently. Quite a nice looking flower too,

Over the allotment today and finally made a start on a brassica cage I have been threatening to do for the last couple of years. Made the frame up today, I’ve still got to treat the wood, cover it with netting and make a door. I may just get it painted before I go on holiday this Friday but I’ve done the main bit. As long as I get it finished before the damn butterflies start breeding. It’ll keep the pesky wood pigeons off of them too - they are partial to a bit of green leaf!

So following on from the what have you bought thread, I bought a yamaha r6 that required the carbs cleaning so I bought an ultrasonic cleaner.

The cleaner was a bit bigger than I expected but the carbs fit in nicely which is the point.

I stripped the carbs at work ready for cleaning, they definitely needed doing,

They were then given 30 minutes at 80 degrees in the cleaner and I'm impressed with how they've come out,

Hopefully get them built back up and on the bike for the weekend.

Chris.

They are good, aren’t they? I have a smaller one that I sometimes dunk my watch bracelets and Mrs Motties jewellery in. The muck that collects the bottom of the tank when it’s finished! It does get things up sparkly clean though. (y)

I'm very happy with it, it wasn't cheap at £160 but fortunately I've enough other project stuff I can put in it to justify it for now.

Had an hospital appointment with the consultant regarding my slightly raised PSA reading. As I hadn’t had an MRI since 2022 he booked me another one. Said I needed a blood test first and gave me the details of where to book. Said I should have the blood test if possible before I go on holiday this Friday as they can’t book an MRI without the blood test. I called into the phlebotomy dept on my way out and asked if they had any cancellations. She looked on the screen and said "Not until 10.15, oh, that’s now. Take a seat". I took a seat and was called in almost immediately so I should have my scan booked for when I get back.

Went over and weeded the adopted patch down my road - some others are going to look after it for me while I’m away and they have a few young plants to add to it. Going to pick up a hose from my mums house tonight - if I can join it to mine I may be able to water my patch with a sprinkler instead of running back and forth with a couple of watering cans. It’s probably 100 metres or so from my house.

Had my mate come round to trim the bottom of my bedroom doors after having new carpets fitted. He had some kind of track that clamped on the doors and he just ran his cordless circular saw along it. Took all of 30 seconds per door! It does help when you have the right tools and know how to use them. 3 bedrooms, ceilings plastered, decorated and new carpets fitted including the landing and stairs. All finished upstairs now apart from the bathroom that needs a new shower screen and a bath panel. Got that to do when we get back then Mrs Mottie says I’m finished with the decorating for the rest of the year. Hurrah!

Had an hospital appointment with the consultant regarding my slightly raised PSA reading.

I had an appointment today, for my pre-operative assessment. Yet more bloods taken, and the third time within 7 days - I'm thinking to get a tap fitted, ready for the future. Whilst on route to the hospital, I had a call from renal, to suggest they want to have my heart checked in detail. I only took the ECG monitor off, yesterday lunchtime, and I already had several heart checkups, with nowt found. Oh well, best do as I'm told.
