Air to Air Vs Air to Water Heatpumps. Now closing the gap.

Gas uses 1kwh of gas to produce 0.9kwh of heating, a heat pump uses 1kwh to produce 3 to 4 kwh of heat

He was talking about air source heat pumps

OMG. I'm so confused! This is what he originally said:

'So now air to air systems are closing the gap to air to water systems by adding heat recovery to a water cylinder for hot water. Still cheaper than air to water systems and far superior. Mine is superb and saves me a fortune.'

The only real difference is air con.

They all do the same thing “poorly”

My main contention is they aren’t up to heating an average house, you need a massive cylinder and the COP needs to work.

So how does the heat in heating mode get to the hot water cylinder?
uses the liquid refrigerant which takes on heat through the refrigeration cycle and transfers it to a coil in the hot water cylinder.
