Those look really easy to knock out with a simple drone.
AI is easy to build in to drones incredibly cheaply now - a few bucks. Recognising a squarish thing which moves is trivial. The "brain" costs less than $1 in 1000 quantities from TI. Probably less from China.
Drone against drone, recognise and destroy.


There was a demo of a drone capture on Trigger Point, played out in London, - so can't use bullets - the thing was fired from a shotgun which opened into a net.
Got me wondering why you don't drop them from another drone.

Something like a TI MSPM0G517 . They've been out a little while now. The Development kit is cheap too - quite tempting to have a go.

They are easy to take out, but so are 4x4s or quad bikes or infrantrymen that would be doing the job instead. They're cheaper and avoid having a human in the firing line.

I think you're overstating the ease of targeting, having something that can do last second guidance isn't a huge challenge but something smart enough to recognise a valid target at 100mph when flying barely above tree level is much more challenging. Ukraine is really pushing the envelope on this and they're still using Starlink whenever possible because it's the cheapest way to do guidance at ~£250 a time.
 
They're useful at the moment (those wheeled things) as support, but drones have been knocking tanks out for years, so those would be limited use.
With a bit of AI, a drone could be set up to pick them off in numbers. At the moment there aren't enough appropriate drones apparently, so those wheeled and tracked things have even been used to take positions. But give it time, like 3 months, and I doubt they'd have mass uses. They'd need soft targets.
A simple drone with a camera is better than a human alone, for targeting. While numbers of AI equipped autonomous drones aren't quite with the forces yet, they're getting there. I expect the Chinese are ahead of the Russians.

One of the obvious limits of a drone is its ability to carry a lot of compute power. Tiddly AI chips like the one I linked, would help with that.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when terrorists get hold of them. You'd be able o tell the thing to put a firework through the letter box of number 10, and let it go.
