That got your attention!
We are currently with sky and as they are putting their prices up again ive been looking at the virgin media website. They seem to be offering some good deals. Any one got any opinions on them?

I use Virgin for my BB-Very good.

I use to have TV through NTL (Who were bought out by Virgin), if it's still the same then don't bother, it was slow, could only show two days in advance and my set top box kept having 'issues'. It may be better these days though.

I'm very happy with my Sky+, they've just waived the ten pound fee for my recording facilility as I don't suscribe to any sport/movie stuff.

They don't have Sky One! That means no 24 - the only reason I used to have Sky until I found out where to watch it online. Now I only have freevieRegards

Preferred the old telewest as now we've lost Sky one and Sky sports news and a couple of others.

However we now get free setanta, usually £10 a month

We've got the Virgin+ (HD) boxes which as far as im aware is more advanced that Sky+. Also never experienced any faults with box itself or the actual service.

Get yourself on Virgin Thermo and sign up to the basic tv package. Then ditch the box and replace it with a Nokia D-box2 from Ebay (about £120). The Nokia d-boxes work much faster than the normal cable boxes and have the added benefit of being able to access all channels (except sky one) if you were the type to search for them. ;) Obviously what with you being an ex copper you wouldn't be the type.

oh yes i would but the mrs wont let me! so its got to be the honest option. not really concerend about sky one, but the package they offer seems quite good. (not worried about phone and broadband just teh tv really)

I've had billing problems with virgin for months, even going back to when they were telewest. They charge a £10 monthly 'late payment fee' if you don't pay bills in time. They were charging me this even though I was paying by direct debit!
I always pay on time and even overpay some months but it still goes on. I would've gone to Sky ages ago if virgin hadn't given me a monthly discount, I get about £15 off my bill every month, listed as a 'loyalty refund' So I get phone, 4mb BB and the medium TV package for roundsabout £32.

Apparently Virgin Media is up for sale, they've only been around for about 4 months!

Your best bet is to phone up sky and threaten to defect to virgin, pointing out the packages where you could get better deals. They will probably match or even beat the Virgin equivalent. Make it known that you don't care for Lost or the Simpsons as they might use Sky One as a bargaining tool.

You can definitely negotiate though, these companies would rather give you money off than lose you to a rival.

Sky is one big ripoff. I wish, oh how i wish we could get virgin media! Noobs layed their cables on every street in our area, mass disruption - thats every street - EXCEPT OURS!!!! I mean, why???????????? WTF did we do wrong? Now every house on our street has a sky dish, it looks like a council estate (and that isnt because it is one, which it isnt)

A lot of my call outs are to council houses. I find the people in these a lot friendlier than the people in the bigger, private houses. They make me tea (and toast!), give me the time of day and don't look down their nose at me when I turn up.

A case of 'each to their own' then I'd guess??

Cheers

When I was S/E, I found the people who could least afford it not only paid on time, but gave a huge tip as well.

FF - Can you watch Sky One on line free?
