Can aquapanel be used in place of plasterboard and dot and dabbed to a brick exterior wall? I understand that using this saves having to tank the area around the bath shower. Is it compatible with plasterboard if the rest of the bathroom is plasterboarded or will it all have to be aquapanel?

Aquapanel cannot be dot and dabbed, I know this for a fact as I had the same question a few years back.

Doh! Do you think it could be screwed direct onto the walls or will it have to be fitted to batons? We only have a small bathroom so I'm trying not to shrink it too much by bringing the walls in if it can be avoided.
dot and dab it to the wall. let the dab go off, then add screws to the board. this will supplement the dabbing and ensure a decent hold.
if you like, the dabs simply act as spacers. no need for battens.

When I had my original question regarding aquapanel I phoned Knauf (the manufacturer) and they were quite specific that it shouldn't be dabbed onto the wall, if that changes when you add some screws into the equation I don't know but it might be worth giving Knauf a call, their help line/tech support people are good.

the aquapanel ain't gonna know the difference between battens and dabs.
both scenarios have mechanical fixings.
all that the dabs are doing is acting as spacers with a little bit of grab thrown in.
