Can I tile straight onto Floor levelling compound?

Hi all,

Just had the concrete floor in my conservatory finished, but it has quite a fall on it. The builder has added some floor levelling compund to try and solve it, and it has helped, but not much. Can I build up the tile adhesive to counter the fall...i.e. at one end of the room there might be 4mm worth of adhesive under the tiles, but at the other end it might be 15mm?

Secondly, I'm installing electric undertile heating which requires a heat reflecting board to be fitted to the conctrete first before the heating element.

I know I can use flexible adhesive stuff to attach the boards, but can I use it straight on the floor which has had the levelling compund applied, or do I need to seal the floor before I apply the adhesive with something like PVA? The floor has since gotten quite dirty (plasterer been in) and is slightly dusty/pourus.

Thanks in advance

Tiling adhesive is much more expensive than leveller - I'd get him to come back and add some more until it's nearer true.

I've had enough of him - he's been a nightmare. Would much rather rectify it myself.

id level it again matey, be better in the long run...

you dont need to pva it afterwards either.

pull it all up and start again? Or go on top of the existing levelling compound?

But if I decided not to level it, could I take up the fall with the adhesive if I wanted?

just go over the existing, give it a clean up too if the plasterer has been in, i know how dirty those buggers are!

i wouldnt try to level it with the adhesive if i were you, it can be done but time consuming, even more than the actual level, why not get a tiler round to yours and talk to him fella, he'll say the same.

Don't listen to him Roughcaster!

Im afraid he's right  ,just done some decorating and they had the ceiling replastered,it was everywhere,on the floors, walls, fireplace, skirting, sills and even some on the windows.Lucky I had my trusty old scraper with me ;)

Ok if I decide to level it again (using the mira-x stuff as you can build it up to 50mm apparently) do I need to PVA the existing levelling compund beforehand if I apply it straight over the top? The plasterer has made a fair amount of mess on it.

What sort of PVA? 5-1 watered down ratio?
