I have just laid tiles in the downstairs loo.

I levelled the floor with self levelling compound and I have just realised that I didn't apply anything on top of the floor before putting the tile adhesive down. Should I have applied some diluted pva or was I ok just to carry straight on with the tile adhesive.

They seem pretty well stuck down - but I'm worrying a bit.

What do the tile adhesive / SLC manufacturer instructions say?

When I did my porch recently (using Mapei products), I needed to prime the original concrete base before applying the SLC, but no further primer was necessary before applying the tile adhesive.

Hope this helps!

Your lucky you didn't use PVA. PVA would crapped out as soon as the substrate got wet. Maybe an acrylic primer would of been advisable depending on MI but if it's done it's done.

Thanks. I didn't read the manufacturers instructions. All seems well at the moment, no loose tiles. I shall make sure I read the MI in future.
