    Plywood on floor before carpet?

I am about to have the second bedroom in my Victorian terrace re-carpeted. I have opted for thick underlay to go under the carpet. The original wooden floorboards are in decent enough condition, but I am wondering if there is any benefit to fitting some thin plywood on top of the floorboards...

    Re-tiling shower

I have some Knauf tape which I was going to us with flexible grout, though as I'm going to use a tanking system with tanking tape can I just use that on the joins? Or should I do both? Thanks for all your advise so far, I am making progress daily :)

Need to fill plaster back to the brick on chimney breast

Part of my bathroom is fitted around an old fireplace. I am re-tiling, after pulling the tile off of this one section he plaster is knackered. Is about 70cm high an 20cm wide, it crumbles away when you touch it. I just need a surface I can tie to, but its too big and deep for Polyfilla. Can...

    Re-tiling shower

Do you use mesh and flexible adhesive to strengthen the joint or is that just for the floor aquapanels?

    Re-tiling shower

I've found a picture on Knauth where they've stuck one on vertically so I think I will be ok. Only using 2. What do you normally bond them together when you're planning to tile over them? Can I use Silicon?

    Re-tiling shower

Quick question, can I mount the Knauf Aquapanels vertically? Knauf say horizontally here but it looks like the same material throughout so I cant see what the difference is.

    Replacing 2 roof tiles

I think the water is running under the lead in the top middle, where half of the tile has broken away. The water runs behind the fascia board directly underneath that section. Maybe I need a bigger bit of lead.

    Replacing 2 roof tiles

    Re-tiling shower

Hi Have to replace the tiling in the shower as water has been running down into the kitchen. There was plasterboard over the wooden batons. Looks like someone previously tiled directly onto the wall previously. I am planning to increase the batons on the one wall and fit Aquapanels onto...

    Capping off thermostatic valve

Hi I am having a room skimmed and need to take the radiator off the wall while this occurs. It has a thermostatic valve with a 1/2 " thread fitted, however I don't have a cap to seal it off. Can I just jam some washes and a few pennies into the cap and screw it on to stop it from leaking?

    Plaster repair around window

Hello I’m in the process of decorating Victorian terrace. The quality of the plaster in most rooms seems strong, but rough. We have decided to go the lining paper rout and leave the existing plaster in tact rather than strip it back. There is a problem area around a couple of the windows, as...

    Extending 10mm rad pipe

Hi In the photo attached I need to extend the 10mm rad feed to the radiator valve. The rad valves are 15mm, I was going to use a reducing nut, but maybe due to having to extend I should attach 155 pipe to the end? Whats the easiest way to accomplish this? Should I look at soldering, or maybe...

    Replacement fascia gutter board

I've attached a couple of photos to show a bit more detail. How is the gutter not fitted correctly? The tiles do overlap into the gutter. The rotten part is the bit in the middle of the two houses, the rest seems fine. I know the corner part of the gutter is missing, and I need to fit some led...

    Replacement fascia gutter board

The board in the photos sits above the bay window at the front of my Victorian terrace. Its old and rotten and needs replacing, I haven't been able to find anything like this. Ideally I would like it exactly the same. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find this?

    15mm to 10mm reducer

Hi Terry, Thanks your description has helped me see what I need to do. I didn't consider I could get the pipe into the reducer as it seemed too small, but now I see it will fit. Thanks for your help.
