Chasing waste pipe for Wall-hung basin?

Thanks Chris. What do you think the best tool would be to chase into a breeze block wall? Simon.

Chasing waste pipe for Wall-hung basin?

Hi, What's the smallest pipe I can use inconjunction with a wall-hung basin? This is the basin I want to fit in my new bathroom: I have never done waste plumbing before and I would be really grateful if someone could recommend which type of waste pipe to use (solvent/compression - it...

boiler cuts out when reaches temp then wont fire back up

I had this problem. There was an airlock in the pump. What happens is that the water isn't circulating so the boiler cuts out as it overheats very quickly. If you don't know what a pump is then get a plumber. You shouldn't try and bleed it yourself. Simon.

    Flexi Hoses

Maybe this a silly question...but I need to use a flexi hose for the first time and they don't seem to have a hot water rating on them. Is this because they are obviously rated for hot water? I always thought flexi hoses (like Hep2o) were only good upto a certain temperature? My water is very...

    Plasterboard bracket hook?

Basically yes, this is what I need, except with a hook instead of an arm!! Can't believe that no one's thought of making something like that before, especially with all the plasterboard in use these days. Thanks for all the help anyway. Simon.

    Plasterboard bracket hook?

I will be bodging it...because both options mean ruining an expensive mirror by altering it. Which is a shame, when all I really need is a nice metal bracket with a hook on it that would spread the weight over a section of the plasterboard. Simon.

    Plasterboard bracket hook?

Thanks for the replies. The studs are not in the right position for the mirror. I did think about a baton, but it means adding a baton to the mirror, which I don't want to do. The mirror is wood, but I'm not drilling into an expensive oak mirror!! Why is there no fixing bracket that...

    Plasterboard bracket hook?

I've got a heavy round mirror to hang on a wall. There is a single hole on the back of the mirror. I'm good with plasterboard fixings - but I know that this mirror is too heavy for a single toggle fixing with a protrouding screw. My question is - has anyone seen a bracket with a hook...

    Lots of JBs w/pic

Yes, four holes. The two JBs on the left haven't got the lights wired in yet. Simon.

    Lots of JBs w/pic

Is this okay or just a bit crap? The JBs serve a 3 gang light switch. Two of the lights are not yet connected. What would be a better way of doing this? Simon.

    SWA set in concrete? w/pic

Found some flexible 20mm conduit. Here's the finished job, before the concrete goes down: Simon.

Fair enough...will give it a go then! Simon.

    SWA set in concrete? w/pic

Because the cable comes up vertically and PVC conduit cannot bend very easily. I need a proper reply please regarding concrete and SWA. Simon.

    SWA set in concrete? w/pic

I've got an SWA cable being put down under my patio, which happens to be quite low and needs to be built up on a bed of concrete, with a sand/cement mix going on top. I've already found a previous post that mentioned concrete has corrosive type effects on SWA cable, so I'm just wondering how...

    Wiring a ring and radial

Thanks for the replies. I think I've fully understood what you've said. As I'm wiring my garage, which is off a 13a FCU, and the wiring inside the garage will be a radial sub-circuit, would that make any difference? I.e. my question is, if the benefits of a ring are wasted when wired as in...

    Wiring a ring and radial

Is it okay to wire a ring like this? In my garage I'm putting in a radial circuit. Is it okay to run a cable round the beams and drop a single cable down the wall for each socket similar to the picture above? Does that affect the cable rating at all (using 2.5mm)? Thanks, Simon.

    Garage electrics

The earthing is PME (the house is a new build). If I put a security light on the side of the garage, the type that turns itself on automatically when it gets dark, how would I prevent a blown bulb from tripping the RCBO on the ring main? I.e. I don't want to wake up one morning to find the...

    Garage electrics

Spent a few hours doing my research on this, so would just like confirmation this is okay. House side: Garage electrics to be spurred off kitchen ring with 2.5mm SWA (already laid now, 4mm was not available unfortunately). Kitchen ring is protected by RCBO. Spur is taken from 13a...

    Drilling into Patio Stone

It's a good bit, but I've only got two 10mm masonary bits and I can only get so far... It's as tough as a rock this patio stone! Simon.
