    Tiling on Aquapanel.

Thanks for the reply. My shower is over the bath so I assume I'll only have to tank the area near the showerhead. I'm not sure what is a good tanking system to use. Is this one anygood? http://www.wetroom.info/aquaproof.htm Id I'm reading it correctly, I should just roll it onto the primed...

    Tiling on Aquapanel.

I'm going to remove the wall tiles in my bathroom and I'm expecting most of the plaster to come with them. My plan is to clear the entire wall and replace with Aquapanel and then tile directly onto the Aquapanel. My question is, do I need to do anything to the Aquapanel to prepare it for...

    Bl**dy cork floor tiles...

I had the same problem in my bathroom. My method was to scrape a few bits of tile so that I could find the edges of the plywood subfloor which was where the screws/nails were located that kept it on the floorboards. I then just ripped up the whole plywood floor with the cork tiles still...

    Vinyl floor tile grouting?

Cheers for that. I've looked into the Karndean products and would probably only need two tubes of the stuff which would be about £18. I think it looks quite good - certainly better than just laying tiles without the grouting strips. Take a look...

    Vinyl floor tile grouting?

I've already laid a 9mm ply subfloor on top of the floorboards. I read elsewhere about some sort of adhesive strips that can give a grout effect but I can't find the actual produts anywhere. Maybe I'm using the wrong search terms.

    Vinyl floor tile grouting?

I have bought some self-adhesive vinyl floor tiles for my bathroom which look really good. However, they don't have a grout effect. Is there any "grout-effect" filler I can buy that will give me this look? I've heard of fillr strips but I haven't seen any in shops or online.

    Removing paste marks from wallpaper

Yeah, I was just wondering if anyone has any tips other than that. The wallpaper is washable. Maybe it will just have to be a cloth and elbow grease.

    Removing paste marks from wallpaper

I've just finished wallpapering. Although I removed the excess paste on hte wallpaper straight away, you can still see some paste marks. Is there any way I can get rid of these?

    Wireless thermostat

My central heating system is currently running without a thermostat. I want to install a wireless thermostat but I'm uncertain about what is needed. Do I just need a thermostats and receiver or is there other equipment I need? Also, is it difficult to install the receiver on the boiler? I...

    Radiator valve leak

Thanks for the reply. I called a plumber in as on further inspection the valve wasn't the problem. Where the pipe meets the valve, the pipe had crushed so it needed replacing which involves a bit of soldering. Plumber was only £40 and took less than an hour and at least I know it's a good job...

    Radiator valve leak

Need a bit of advice. I removed a radiator to do some decorating and when I was reattaching it I over-tightened one of the nuts. Now the valve is leaking. The leak is coming from the place where the valve is connected to the copper pipe. It is leaking a fair bit. My guess is that the pressure...

    Sub floor advice needed

We've got floorboards down at the minute. The tiles are self-adhesive. The instructions say to make sure that plywood is sealed with a suitable primer but it doesn't give any examples. Any ideas of what I should use?

    Tiling onto plasterboard

I'm hoping to re-tile my bathroom soon but I'm certain that when I start removing the old tiles, then most of the plaster is going to come off with it. Rather than get a plasterer in, can I just put up new plasterboard and tile directly onto it without skimming? I'm sure I've heard of something...

Can I second that question? I asked this before but didn't get an answer. Please help someone!

    Sub floor advice needed

I'm going to lay vinyl floor tiles in my bathroom and I'm unsure about the type of sub-floor I'll need to put down. I was going to use 16mm ply as this seems to be a bit easier than hardboard. Is this OK or is it too thick? Also, I'm planning to seal it with PVA. Can ayone tell me the ratio...

    Replacing sash windows

Thanks trotter, that's been a lot of help. Maybe I don't need to go for the double glazing after all as long as I get proper draught-proofing. I'm pretty handy and reading some of the webpages, it doesnt' look overly difficult. They culd probably do with a new coat of paint as well. One of my...

    Replacing sash windows

The windows themselves are actually in pretty good nick. I have three in total and only one has any damage - one of the ropes has come away from the sash in the front room. I can fix that fairly easily. I was hoping really hoping just to replace the sashes themselves as the boxes are still good...

    Replacing sash windows

I'm looking to replace my single-glazed sash windows. I'm hoping to replace these with timber double-glazed sash windows as UPVC just wouldn't look right on my flat. Does anyone know where I can find out how much these will cost? Some of the companies out there charge just to provide a quote.

    Adding a thermostat

My central heating system doesn't have a room thermostat at present. I'd like to add one as it will be more efficient than just having the boiler blasting for the three hours or so that the heating is on. Are these easy to fit onto an existing system, and what work would need to be done? I'm...
